The "New" Hobby Store?

While we were out in Las Vegas this past week, we were discussing the hobby industry and a thought occurred  to us - could the "new" hobby store be your local, independent hardware store? We're curious as to how many of youfrequent independent / local hardware stores instead of big-box stores such as Home Depot.
